SPORT TOURING ROAD BIKES FOR HIRE IN HANOI, VIETNAM
What are Touring Road Bikes?
Street motorcycles, also known as road bikes, are designed primarily for riding on paved roads, highways, and urban streets. They generally feature smooth or lightly treaded tires, a comfortable riding position, and engines typically starting around 125cc and above. Larger road motorcycles can reach very high speeds, although when riding in Vietnam, road conditions, traffic, and local speed limits are far more important than maximum motorcycle speed.
Touring road bikes are particularly well suited to riders who want to cover longer distances in comfort. Compared with dedicated dirt bikes, they are designed mainly for paved roads and highways, making them a practical choice for exploring Vietnam’s cities, countryside, and mountain roads where the surface is reasonably good.
Cruiser motorcycles are another type of road motorcycle, traditionally styled after American motorcycles from the 1930s through the early 1960s. Their engines and riding characteristics are generally focused on low-end torque and relaxed cruising, which can make them less demanding to ride. The strong low-speed torque also means you may not need to change gears as frequently when accelerating or maintaining a steady pace.

One of the biggest advantages of road bikes for touring is their comfortable riding position. They are also particularly practical for two-up riding, making them a good option when carrying a passenger on longer motorcycle journeys through Vietnam.
Road Bikes We Provide In Hanoi
Hanoi Motorbike Rental uses Honda road motorcycles for our touring fleet. We choose Honda because the brand is extremely common throughout Vietnam, which makes spare parts, servicing, and mechanical repairs easier to arrange if you experience a problem during a long-distance trip.
We focus on sport-touring Honda motorcycles, rather than the smaller 50-110cc motorcycles commonly offered by many rental shops in Hanoi. When riding through the hilly and mountainous roads of Northern Vietnam, having a little extra engine capacity can make a noticeable difference, particularly when carrying luggage or a passenger.
Our main road-bike options are:
- 2014 Honda CGL 125cc – a simple, reliable, and easy-to-ride manual motorcycle that is particularly suitable for beginner and inexperienced riders.
- 2016-2018 Honda Winner 150cc – a sportier and more powerful manual motorcycle with a 6-speed gearbox, suitable for experienced riders who want additional performance for longer journeys.
For more information, see our Honda CGL 125cc and Honda Winner 150cc rental pages.
What are the best road bikes?
There is no single best touring motorcycle in Vietnam for every rider. The right choice depends on your riding experience, body size, whether you are carrying luggage or a passenger, and where you plan to ride.
