About Honda CRF150L For Rent In Hanoi
Honda CRF150L is a lightweight, off-road motorbike (in fact, to be categorized as small dual enduro). It is powered by a Euro 3 compliant, 149.2 cc engine. The motorcycle is good for around 12HP and 12.43 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Apart from its lighter weight and bigger than standard wheels, this Honda CRF150L is good for impressive suspension travel and ground clearance. Indonesia launched it in 2017 and soon it was available in Vietnam. It can be a part of Honda Vietnam’s upcoming motorcycle lineup but first, they are focusing more on scooters to capture a majority of space in that segment.
Honda CRF150L – 150cc Engine
The 149cc engine has a smooth and constant power delivery. In addition, the five-speed gearbox offers great flexibility a powerful front disc brake aids handling. The electric start makes it easy to get things moving when you want to deal with those early morning jobs. However, kick start is still available in case you have a flat battery or a blown fuse.
From our experience, the quality of the cylinder kit is not so good. We had to replace a new kit just after under 10,000km. Luckily, it shares the same part as Honda XR150L or other Honda 150cc motorbikes. Therefore, parts are cheap and easy to get.
Last, yet importantly, one downside of the Honda CRF150L is the lack of the counter-balancer of the engine. That makes it less smooth than Honda XR150L and we had to replace it with the crankshaft and the balancer from XR150L.
In short, Honda shouldn’t use this kind of engine and instead, they should use the water-cooled 150cc as they installed on Honda Winner (GTR) which offers much more power (nearly 16HP).
Fuel Injection
Honda’s advanced fuel injection system (PGM-Fi) makes it very easy to start in the morning and under any weather conditions. However, due to the small engine displacement, the acceleration is not as good as Honda XR150L. If you need a bit more power, then go for the XR150L instead.
Seat
The seat is quite small, skinny and that’s probably the downside of the Honda CRF series. In fact, you do need to stop often to refresh yourself and if you ride with a passenger at the back, then the job is very very difficult.
Suspension
We really like the suspension system of the Honda CRF150L. The front upsidedown and the Pro-Link at the back prove to be the best in the 150cc off-road motorbike range available in Vietnam. That’s probably the best thing to say about this model.
Front & Rear Disk Brake
It has a front and also rear disk brake for the highest braking confidence and security. That’s probably the best in the 150cc off-road motorbike market in Vietnam.
Transmission
The front sprocket has only 15 teeth, but the rear disc has 49 teeth and 428 drive chain size. Honestly, the original drive chain is not good, it’s a pure metal of the cheapest quality that wears out very quickly. In general, this 15/49 is good for off-road riding and also for highways. However, we would recommend the bigger 520 chain size (O-ring) and 13/41 teeth front/rear sprocket. It also lasts much longer.
Board
Full digital dashboard to make your driving experience more comfortable and safer like on CRF250L.
Grill
Practical and useful multi-functional grill that lets you carry everything you need.
Headlight
Equipped with AHO (Automatic Headlight On). In fact, it comes with the new CRF450L inspired headlight with a sharp appeal and wider design for better visibility.
Important
– This Honda CRF150L is not really suitable for riding two up on one bike because of the HP, seat, and luggage added. Ideally, riding solo is the best option. If you have to ride two-up, relax often and don’t ride long every day, especially after dark or on rainy days.
– We are based in Hanoi, Northern Vietnam only. Therefore, we don’t offer bike hire outside of Hanoi nor one-way rental. Sadly, we have nobody to recommend because we don’t know their bikes or quality of services.
To have an idea of which off-road motorbike is the best for you, please watch the video below. Even it can’t handle the extreme off-road as well as the larger Honda CRF250L, this is still a great option for exploring Vietnam.
