DISCONTINUED MODELS OF MOTORBIKES FOR HIRE IN HANOI, VIETNAM
Here is a list of discontinued motorbike and scooter models that we previously used and rented at Hanoi Motorbike Rental. We have been providing motorbike, motorcycle, and scooter rentals in Hanoi since late 2006. Over the years, we have continually updated our fleet and tried to provide the most reliable motorcycle models available in Vietnam.
Through many years of experience, we have learned which motorcycles are suitable for travelers, long-distance riding, mountain roads, and daily transportation in Hanoi. Our rental fleet has included two main categories: manual clutch motorcycles and semi-automatic or fully automatic scooters.

Discontinued Models Of Manual Clutch Motorcycles
These motorcycles were generally in the 125cc to 250cc range and were imported into Vietnam. At the time, Honda Vietnam did not produce many suitable manual-clutch motorcycles locally for the type of long-distance and mountain riding that our customers wanted to do.
Most Vietnamese riders traditionally choose semi-automatic or fully automatic scooters when buying a new motorcycle. Other manufacturers, including Yamaha, Suzuki, and SYM, have produced some manual-clutch models, but many were primarily street bikes or smaller-displacement motorcycles below 150cc. These models were not always suitable for demanding mountain roads and off-road riding in Northern Vietnam.
High import taxes also made imported motorcycles significantly more expensive in Vietnam. As a result, many of the manual-clutch motorcycles available on the market were second-hand bikes, often more than five years old. With proper servicing and regular maintenance, however, some of these motorcycles could still perform very well.

Semi-automatic Or Fully Automatic Scooters
Semi-automatic and fully automatic scooters make up the vast majority of motorcycles in Vietnam. With tens of millions of motorcycles on the country’s roads, Vietnam has earned its reputation as a motorbike nation. Motorbikes are an essential form of everyday transportation, particularly in busy cities such as Hanoi.
For this reason, traffic congestion is a common problem in Vietnam, especially during peak hours. At Hanoi Motorbike Rental, we have always focused on reliable motorcycles that are practical for travelers. Our current scooter fleet uses newer models produced by Honda Vietnam, rather than outdated versions.
Honda scooters are popular because they are generally reliable, fuel-efficient, and easy to repair. Replacement parts are widely available through Honda dealers and repair shops throughout Vietnam. They are also easy to start in the morning and, on newer models, you do not normally need to rely on a kick-start.
If you experience a mechanical problem while traveling, there are usually many Honda scooter owners and motorcycle repair shops nearby who can help or direct you to the nearest mechanic.

After many years in the motorbike rental business in Hanoi, we know which motorcycle models and versions work best for our customers. The models listed below are no longer part of our rental fleet because they have become outdated, too old, or difficult to maintain due to limited availability of replacement parts.
Some motorcycle rental shops in Hanoi may still offer similar older models at cheaper daily rates. However, a lower rental price does not necessarily mean you will save money in the long run. Older motorcycles can consume more fuel, require more repairs, and cause unexpected delays during a long-distance trip.
Even more importantly, some rental businesses use Chinese copy motorcycles to offer very low rental prices. This is something we strongly avoid at Hanoi Motorbike Rental. We believe travelers are better off with a genuine, properly maintained motorcycle rather than risking their trip to save a small amount of money.
