DISCONTINUED MODELS OF MOTORBIKES FOR HIRE IN HANOI, VIETNAM
Here is a list of discontinued models of motorbikes we used before. Hanoi Motorbike Rental has been offering motorbike, motorcycle, and scooter rentals since late 2006. We try to provide the most reliable models available in Vietnam. There are two types of bikes we own and rent out to travellers.
Discontinued Models Of Manual Clutch Motorcycles
These are usually in the 125-250cc range and were imported in Vietnam. Honda Vietnam has not produced any manual motorbike in Vietnam yet. Most of Vietnamese would go for a semi-automatic or fully automatic bike when they consider buying a new bike. Other companies like Yamaha, Suzuki, or SYM made some manual clutch models but they are only street bikes or small displacements (below 150cc) that don’t perform well on mountain roads. Import taxes are high in Vietnam and that makes any imported bike about two times more than the official manufacturers’ rate. How could you run a competitive business with this? Therefore, almost all of the manual clutch motorbikes in Vietnam are second hand, usually more than five years old. With good service and maintenance, they still work very well.
2003 – 2005 Honda dual enduro XR250
2013 – 2015 Honda dirt bikes XR125/150L
Semi-automatic Or Fully Automatic Scooters
These bikes account for at least 90% of the 35 million bikes in Vietnam. With a population of around 90 million people, about half can ride then this number is really really big. Therefore, Vietnam is nicknamed a “bike nation”. To nobody’s surprise, traffic jam is a problem in Vietnam. Currently, we only use new models that were made by Honda Vietnam. These scooters are extremely reliable, parts are cheap and available throughout Honda shops around the country. The bikes start first thing in the morning and you don’t even need a kick-start! If you have any problem, there are always many Honda scooter owners around that can offer a helping hand or at least direct you to the nearest repair shop.
2013 – 2015 Honda Wave Alpha 100cc
2014 Honda Super Dream 110cc
Through many years in business, we know what models and versions are best for our customers, and below is a list of models or versions that we no longer rent. They are either outdated, old or parts are not easy to find. Some rental shops in Hanoi still offer some of these old models or versions and offer cheaper rates, however, be careful, you won’t save in the long run. Even worse, some shops use Chinese copy cats to lower the rate and this is a big “no-no” at Hanoi Motorbike Rental.
