DISCONTINUED HONDA GL160 SPORT TOURING
About Our Honda GL160
Style, fast, simple, reliable, fashionable, and fancy! That was the original advertising message for the Honda GL Pro Neo-Tech 4-stroke 1600, commonly known as the Honda GL160. With its 160cc engine, this small sports motorcycle was designed by P.T. Astra Honda Motor Indonesia as a street bike and was proudly marketed as a Luxury Sport motorcycle.
Despite its sporty appearance, the original Honda GL160 was not really designed as a touring motorcycle. The frame was not designed to support a proper luggage rack, while the large plastic headlight fairing and wide speedometer could easily be damaged in a fall. For riders planning long-distance motorcycle trips in Vietnam, we felt the original configuration needed some practical improvements.

Following our simple philosophy of building a practical and reliable touring motorcycle, we removed components we considered unnecessary and modified the Honda GL160 to make it more suitable for motorcycle travel. The following work was carried out by our own team:
- Installed a smaller speedometer and removed the original headlight cover and headlight.
- Installed a new round headlight using a standard halogen H4 bulb.
- Added a protective slider to help reduce damage and potential injury in the event of a fall.
- Installed a large rear luggage rack for carrying a backpack or other travel luggage, with the frame reinforced for additional strength.
- Added extra foam to the seat and fitted a new seat cover to improve comfort during long-distance riding.
- Refurbished and/or rebuilt the engines using original parts sourced from Indonesia and Cambodia.
The modified Honda GL160 used to be one of our simplest motorcycles for novice and beginner riders. However, from 2014 onward, we replaced this model with the newer Honda CGL125, which offers a more practical setup for our motorcycle rental customers.
