This Honda SL230 dirt bike was an upgrade option for a Honda XL125. In particular, SL230 came with low seat height, the futuristic styling, and the low noise level. In reality, this is the only trail bike whose exhaust noise level comes close to the EU standard of 80dB for machines over 175cc. The figure quoted by Honda is 81dB.
The good things about Honda SL230 are not just good for short riders (1.6m – 1.8m). It delivers 20HP, has two disc brakes and is, in fact, a lower XR250. Apparently, it was designed for less experienced riders.
Still, there is something that makes this bike not as good as a Honda XR250. The suspension is crude, the seat forces the rider into an uncomfortable position, especially if you are from 1.7m.
Therefore, this model was discontinued in late 2013. We now use only Honda XR250 as bikes over 175cc.
